That is the main issue, but now there so many angles in replay, it looks like a catch the first 4 angles but the 5th angle shows a slight bobble, no catch. Replay was supposed to clear up the egregious calls, but now way too many plays are scrutinized.

    • Chiefs reach agreement to trade Alex Smith to Washington
Posted by Charean Williams on January 30, 2018, 9:47 PM EST

Alex Smith doesn’t have to wonder about his future any longer, and Washington no longer has to wonder who its quarterback will be in 2018.

The Chiefs reached an agreement to trade Smith to Washington, Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports. There is no word on the compensation the Chiefs will receive.

Although the trade cannot be consummated until the first day of the league year, which begins March 14, Paylor reports the sides have agreed to the deal.

Smith was entering the final year of his deal, with a cap number of $20.6 million for 2018. The Chiefs will save $17 million on their cap.

It paves the way for Patrick Mahomes to take over as the starting quarterback in Kansas City. It also assures that Kirk Cousins will enter free agency after Washington used the franchise tag on him in consecutive years.

        • Those of you scoring at home, that's 23.5 mil/yr for a 34 yr old QB.

          • a four-year contract extension that will run through the 2022 season. Smith will be 34 years old when the 2018 season begins in September. The deal is worth $94 million with $71 million in guarantees, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. However, it’s unlikely all of that money is fully guaranteed.

He has a year left on his deal.....so in reality this is probably like a 2 year deal that gives him enough up front money to get him excited to play in Washington and teach whatever new kid gets drafted.

No way they guaranteed 71 million for Smith. If they did the GM should be shot, fired, then shot again.

How would you be feeling if the Lions did that?

Yes, Redskins always seem to make a splash move during the offseason as it frequently doesn’t pay out.

Yeah if you are giving 70 million to Smith. Why not just give Cousins the 90 million? Getting Alex is going to soften the blow of losing Cousins. But man they really screwed up by letting it get this far and not signing him for 23-25 million two years ago. They are going to be hurting in the long run.

                          • The agreement awards FOX Sports with a five-year deal that includes 11 games between Weeks 4-15 (excluding Thanksgiving night) to be broadcast on FOX, simulcast via NFL Network, and distributed in Spanish on FOX Deportes. In addition, NFL Network will exclusively televise seven games next season, with FOX producing the full slate of 18 games.

OMG it's Cutler all over again. I am really hoping that someone steals Smith out from under the Redskins and Cousins then refuses because of this to sign with the Redskins.
