      • Jaguars got a steal for a proven playoff winner.

Unlike the Lions who got fleeced by Mediocre Matty.

Can't wait to see what Tepid Tommy gets, the guy who didn't make the plays to win the Super Bowl. Man, a REAL winner like Nick Foles is gonna make a MINT, lemme tell ya.

Nice, including the choice of thread.

.....but focused at only one and confusing the rest.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

          • Although sarcastic, minus the Brady reference is on point. Lions can't win with Stafford's abilities without a great defense and running game, which Jags have, they did the right thing by paying a QB within reason of his abilities, other than pay him like Rodgers, Brady, abilities.

The Lions can't win with Stafford's abilities with NO defense or a running game. He can't carry a team by himself. There's only two QBs in the goddamn world that sorta can, and he's not one of them. This is not news. This is not shocking.

To hell with being great, I'd settle for fucking AVERAGE at this point.

              • What’s average if not 9-7? I’d say we are already better than average.

We as a team are better than average and a certain group of people think it's Staffords fault. In a way it is we are a much much much worse team without Stafford. He raises the team to the middle of the pack. Otherwise no way even on a soft schedule does a team that runs as bad, has such a bad defense, and a lacklustre Oline reach 9-7.

That was Chemics point. Give us an average running game and Defense and we are a contender.

Not being able to carry the team isn't the issue. Given the chance to make a play to beat a winning team - he fails nearly every time, 4-55.

#2 defense and could still only beat the bad teams, do you ever get tired of making excuses?

It can't be both things (better than average team AND being a much much worse team without Stafford). This is a pig that Stafford puts lipstick on by being able to squeek out wins vs bad teams.

The real question is how much of the Lions problems were directly related to the coaching. We'll find out one way or another this year with this schedule.

                          • The CONSISTENCY of how they have lost to winning teams and beat losing teams over the last SEVEN years - tells you everything you need to know.

Again everything is a measurement of the whole. You can have the team outside a few positions be really bad and still have an average team. The Safeties and Slay kept the Defense from being the worst ever. Stafford, Tate, and Jones Jnr. saved the offense from the lack of a running game and a pourus oft injured Oline. The results of those 6 in particular took the Lions from being almost Browns bad, to being a team in position to get to the playoffs. They didn't pull it off, but even if they beat softer teams you don't go 9-7 if your team isn't an average team. Those 6 and primarily Stafford of those 6 helped raise the team to Average, to mediocrity.

Parity, exactly the way the NFL devised it. Even with an alleged franchise, elite QB. You can beat losing teams but don't dare beat REAL winning teams.
