On June 19, 2017, Trump met with Corey Lewandowksi at the WH. He instructed Lewandowski to take a message to Jeff Sessions. Sessions, didn't have to un-recuse, but Trump wanted him to publicly announce that the investigation was "very unfair" to President Trump and that Sessions was limiting the Mueller Investigation to ONLY meddling in future elections.

Lewandowski said yup yup, I'll let Jeff know. But he was apparently just telling Trump what he wanted to hear and pawned off the task to WH staffer Rick Dearborn. Dearborn was so uncomfortable deliving this 'message" that he just ignored the request and Trump eventually forgot all about it. Or got even more mad at Sessions for 'ignoring' him. LMAO

Did we know this already? This had to come from Lewandowski/Dearborn.
and Trump could have claimed executive privileged on this, but didn't

    but you know... coverup.

        • Mueller on page 220 (of the pdf), summarizing the obstruction section.

"With respect to whether the President can be found to have obstructed justice by exercising his powers under Article II of the Constitution, we concluded that Congress has authority to prohibit a President's corrupt use of his authority in order to protect the integrity of the administration of justice."

I certainly read that differently than what Barr said at the presser:

"Special Counsel Mueller did not indicate that his purpose was to leave the decision to Congress. I hope that was not his view because we don't convene grand juries and conduct criminal investigations for that purpose."

Also, Mueller's summary goes a bit further than the "does not exonerate" line that Barr and others have quoted. Mueller says that had he been confident that the President committed no obstruction, it would have explicitly said so. On the contrary, the report does NOT exonerate him.

            • So Mueller actually says no, Trump did not give us tremendous cooperation and oh, btw, tried to prevent the disclosure of evidence, including interaction with witnesses.

In his presser Barr claimed the White House 'fully cooperated" with the Mueller Investigation. That doesn't really line up with what Mueller wrote below unless you interpret "White House" to not include "The President"

Barr spoke to reporters before the release of the nearly 400-page report from special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. Here's what he said.

                • That WaPo quote is so WaPo. PDJT wanted to nix the investigation that just produced a 400 page report after conducting a massively thorough 2 year investigation. Great job of nixing it. Oh, and wanted to nix it because he knew it tie up his administration for years AND was innocent. AS THE REPORT CONCLUDES.

Sad to see the WaPo turn to trash.

                  • I'm a posting machine on the Lions forum side of things. Meaning I don't spend much time on this side but it didn't take long to spot Dr. Srangeglove and Ghengis Jon as absolute imbeciles (current page alone).

Straight to the blocked list with those two low intellects.

Edit: Well, well, well, one of the two named dumases is a moderator on this side and cannot be blocked. The endless retardation tie-ins are deep.

I'll have to send Deb my thoughts unless she reads them here first.

                      • Yup. Collusion is dead and has been for a while. But we also both know that an underlying crime is not required to pursue an obstruction charge. Or witness tampering charge. Or suborning false testimony charge. Mueller does draw a point that those are the standards of e 'normal' obstruction case and an inquiry into the President poses "unique" issues. Mueller talks legalisms beginning pg 221 of the pdf if you want a look.

There's a lot to read. Be a while before can talk about specific incidents that Mueller found concerning.

The Washington Post link was to a transcript of Barr's presser. I found the screenshot of the Mueller Report elsewhere.

                          • Not an important part but this is funny. Trump got pissed that McGahn always took notes in their meetings. "Lawyers don't take notes." McGahn responded that he takes preciously because he is a "real lawyer".

(The first paragraph is about Trump ordering McGahn to get Mueller fired and then later denying he ever did so. McGahn made it known that he'd resign before following that order)

                            • "The President's efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful, but that is largely because the persons around the President declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests"

Kinder way of saying Trump attempted to obstruct justice but he was too incompetent to do so successfully.

EDIT: Sorry, can't get this screenshot to show up correctly

                              • "If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, however, we are unable to reach that judgment. The evidence we obtained about the President's actions and intent presents difficult issues that prevent us from conclusively determining that no criminal conduct occurred. Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him."
