Michigan was the best defense Ohio State played. Ohio State left a ton of points on the field. Wisky was super passive with pass rush.

Wisky's offense wasn't much better than M's. It was 3 score hame that somehow was one score. It could have been a 28 point game fairly easily.

    • Wisky gave too much time?

      • Yes. They choose to cover most of the time. It worked some of the time. But OSU was able to get WRs wide open way down field on others. They had at least 5 clear opportunities for TDs on deep balls and converted 1. To be fair, 2 were on the same drive.

Exactly. I am so tired of SEC people beating on their chests and claiming that they SEC is so tough that you have to take it into consideration. I don't believe that is the case. I think it is about the same as the rest of the power 5 conferences once you take the top team or two out, this year, worse than most.

Of course, if an SEC team loses in a bowl game, it's because they expected to be in a better one so they didn't give their all. If they win, it proves their dominance.

          Bullshit.

Take the conference winners and let them play off for true bragging rights.

Add another harumph. No matter the criteria assessed, Alabama has always gotten the benefit of the doubt. Always. So, yeah, why not leave it in the hands of the people who always give you the benefit of the doubt.

The CFP would have sent a 2-loss SEC Champ ahead of an undefeated B10 champ. That's not up for debate.

The CFP will NEVER, and I mean NEVER, not put an SEC team in the CFP. NEVER. That's not up for debate.

The idea of sending 2 B10 teams is sheer lunacy. LUNACY. Even last year when they certainly could have done so.

Now, the B10 is better situated than the B12 and P12. It's also probably equally situated with the ACC, but Clemson gets much love and the Miami love is totally bizarre. So, maybe the B10 sits 3rd in the pecking order.

And Ohio State, vis-a-vis the B10, is the King. So, at least as it relates to intra conference crap, OSU will generally benefit vis-a-vis other B10 teams. But you put them up against any comparable SEC team...ANY comparable SEC team, and they'll lose.

That's the system. It is what it is. We have a league that forces its teams to play 9 conference games (like the P12 and the B12) in a system that doesn't give a flying fuck if you do that or play an FCS team for the 9th game. It's only a question of how many have you lost. And right now, you can't lose 2 (unless you're an SEC team). Those are the rules.

But, we now know that beating 0 top 15 teams, 2 top 25 teams and not winning your conference...AND losing a game...is plenty good enough....if you pass the eye test. Which basically renders the entire "resume" concept irrelevant.

            • Great post talent, the 9th game is stupid. Start scheduling Goliaths like Mercer.

As it stands, you are better off losing a game to go to the conference championship than actually losing in the conference championship.

It's time for people in the Big Ten to stop downplaying teams like Wisconsin, by the eye test they were a great team. That win by OSU was impressive but it is downgraded because people are dogging them for their nonconference schedule and then they put in two SEC teams that scheduled cream puffs.

              • Yeah, man, why not? Right. Undefeated is undefeated. But, Wisconsin is way low on the totem pole. They recruit bad, look slow and plodding and play boring football. So, unless they beat someone like, say, LSU, then they aren't taken seriously. Until you have to play those fucks.

Maybe I'm way off and Miami will destroy them at home in their bowl game.

                • Wisconsin plays in the B1G West, if they'd have finished 11-1 and played Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Sparty, they could've been chosen over Bama.

                  • Alabama played in a subpar SEC with a subpar non conference schedule. They didn't win their conference. Wisconsin needed to win the conference championship game to get in, but Alabama should have won their conference championship game to get in.

In the biggest game Alabama had, they got bitch slapped by Auburn. It's OK to schedule Mercer but you better dam well win your important games and the CCG. Same with Wisconsin.

Alabama's resume was closer to Wisconsin's than Ohio State's.

                        • Various thoughts. Some have been repeated. This will be my last comment on cfp selections:

*I was never a fan of the committee. I preferred just using the BCS formula for the top 4 spots. Or you could use the AP poll, the coaches poll, or the FPI if you wish. Bama would STILL be in in any of those selection systems I just named, but that's not why I picked them. They are just the most well known. Use whatever system you want to find the 4 best.

*The OSU and Bama SOS was very close. Bama's was better a couple of days ago, but I bet OSU's is a bit bit better now after the B1G CCG. It's still ballpark, I would assume.

                          * As I have said, I don't think any team has a legit gripe for being left out of that 4th spot. OSU had a couple of better wins but a worse loss. Everything else in-between was roughly equivalent.

*I was shocked that Bama made it. I didn't think the politics of the situation would allow it.

*When we went to this playoff shit, It was supposed to squelch most of the gripes that we had when it was just #1 vs #2. Pro playoff folks assured us this would end it. It didn't. There was some outrage last year when Ohio State went in place of Penn State and certainly this year, and some in 2015, as well. When we expand to 8, #9 will bitch. Guaranteed.

*The last point scored by a Big Ten team in the playoff was by Ohio State's Sean Nuernberger. He kicked a PAT after Ezekiel Elliott's 4th quarter TD against Oregon in the very first CFP. That will still be the case until - at the earliest - January 2019. No reason to state that other than I figured some sass was called for to lighten the mood.

                          Heh.
