Michigan won the rubber match, 4-2 v. UCLA, the #1 ranked team nationally and #1 seed in the regionals, and will advance to the College World Series. This is the first time since 1984 that M has played in the CWS and the first time a BT team has done so since Indiana played in it in 2013. Upends the college baseball world because Midwest teams are never supposed to do this being at a huge disadvantage because of the cold weather at the start of the college baseball season.
This win would pretty much be the football equivalent of an at large team winning the CFP or an 8 seed in their region advancing to the FF and winning the B-Ball NC. Michigan was unranked all of the regular season and listed in the last four in field of the NCAA Tournament selection committee. The comeback win against the Illini in M's final regular season game and the two B1G Tournament wins that followed is what secured the NCAA bid.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. The baseball team is one win away from playing in the Championship round of the CWS. They beat FSU on Monday by a score of 2-0.
Michigan is now 2-0 in the CWS.
The Seminoles will now play Texas Tech on Wednesday, to decide who plays Michigan again on Friday. Since this is a double elimination tournament, Michigan would have to lose twice to Wednesday's winner, to be left out of the Championship series.

Pretty amazing run. The baseball team by all accounts caught fire after winning the BIG Tournament. Michigan's Tommy Henry threw a complete game three-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in a 2-0 win Monday night against Florida State. FSU struck out 17 M batters - a pitchers dual that M has been good at winning with Henry on the mound. The Wolverines stay in the winners' bracket and could clinch a spot in the CWS finals on Friday afternoon.
They'll meet the winner of the semi-final looser's bracket, TT or FSU tomorrow, 6/19 and will have two tries to win one game against either of them on 6/21. If they win one of those two contests, they'll advance to the CWS.
Michigan is the only school (as far as I know) with National Championships in all of the big-four sports: Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Baseball.
Michigan is good at everything.

They did NOT win the B10 tournament, nor were they one strike from losing a game that would have cost them an NCAA bid. They were always going to be an at-large.
