FORUM POSTING RULES - Read before posting

Forum Rules.

(1) The guiding principle for posting in this forum is moderate yourselves.

(2) Don't write a post that attacks, impugns or denigrates another poster's character. There's an obvious difference between the language of humor and hateful, debased language. Know the difference and post accordingly.

(3) This is a Michigan sports forum. The forum welcomes posts from M's sports rivals. Talking smack, posting sass is what college sports rivalries are all about. Rules (1) and (2) above apply. If you don't want to view the posts of a rival talking smack or sassing, use the ignore feature in User Controls.

(4) This forum is about sharing thoughts, ideas and viewpoints about all sports, any number of subjects and issues, learning stuff from other posters and having fun. There are threads by subject matter within the forum for doing this. Keep the threads on point.

NB: The rules above are not intended to build a case to ban a poster. There are consequences for rule breaking as specified below. That's as far as it should go. Only the most egregious and persistent rule breaking would cause the moderators to consider a ban.

Due Process.

(1) The forum has 6 moderators. Jeff Buchanan, Jon, JD, Hannibal, Oracle, Entropy. None of them want to moderate adult posters who should know better. There may be posts that break the rules.

(2) Posters who, at the sole discretion of a moderator, break a rule will be given a warning post that will site one of the rules listed above as the reason for the deletion.

(3) If the rule breaking behavior continues, a moderator can remove an offending post and any ensuing post that whines about that action. If a moderator removes a post(s) the reason for the removal(s) will be posted with the removal notice that appears in the thread. This should be the end of it. Man up, take responsibility for breaking the rules. The forum moves on. If not, see below.

(4) A poster who has had a warning or a post(s) removed can certify a question by PM to any moderator about that action. Do not complain about the action or attempt to make your case in the forum/threads. Moderators shall do their best to address the question within 72h. At the end of 72h the majority opinion of the moderators responding will be the answer.

(5) Banning a poster for egregious and repeated rule breaking requires a unanimous vote to ban from all 6 moderators. We don't anticipate this will ever happen.

  • U of M MEN'S BASKETBALL 2017-2018

I figured with the DJ and Mo questions answered, it's truly time to start looking forward to the approaching season.

Looking to next season, I do think there's a shot at the Sweet 16.

spartie sadly, is the clear-cut pick as the B1G favorite. Then maybe Wisky and then we should be in the mix for that next level. We lost Walton, Zak, DJ and Donnal. Wagner needs about another 10-15 pounds of muscle on his frame and just to keep improving and he can be a beast on the college level. The PG-spot and Mathews are the X-factors. If those areas are above-average, then we could be a surprise team.

I don't worry about pg at all. Matthews and the 4 (if different) are really the only concerns.

I think it was mentioned in the old thread, if Davis is somewhat capable at the 5, putting Mo at PF could work just fine.

        C Davis/Mo/Teske (if there's foul trouble)
        PF Mo/Livers/Duncan
        SF Mathews/Duncan
        SG MAAR/Poole/Watson
        PG Simmons/X

        Redshirt- Brooks

        That's still a solid squad.

It would be nice if there was some grad-transfer PF still out there.

I'll bet Matthews gets action at the 4. If he's solid and Livers is ready to give 10 min or so there, I'll feel better.

I like what I've seen from Livers but he needs to get in Camp Sanderson stat.

We might be able to convince Iggy to reclassify to '17 as well, but he wouldn't be a full time answer next year.

Livers at 210 would be able enough for some minutes. Looks to be about that.

With so many small lineups, I don't like my idea of Davis at center and Wagner at the four. Situational lineup, we'll see alot of Matthews, Robinson & probably a bit of Livers at the four with some Wagner.

Concern about Livers is he's a major project defensively, I like his offensive game as a four but we'll see if he's ready for B1G competition.

Matthews should effectively replace Irvin, Simmons gives us quite a bit of Walton. We just take a huge hit from losing Wilson who would've given us a dominant frontcourt.

It's weird. 247 has Livers at 220 and ESPN has him at 185. He certainly looks bigger than 185 but not 220.

Zero chance he's 185. 6-8, 220 doesn't look huge. I'd bet he's closer to that than 200. It's all about aggression with him.

Scuttlebutt out there that we aren't out if it for Cam Johnson now that we have a guaranteed schollie for him. That'd be the game changer we need.

Livers himself just said he's 6-8, 225 right now. If true, that's about perfect.

Losing Meyers (Butler) and Donlon (NW) within a week of each other may hurt recruiting more than what goes on on the court, certainly in the short-term. I'm curious to see who Michigan targets to fill those spots. It would be great if they could somehow lure Juwan back to A2 but I'm guessing he's an NBA guy until he at least gets a taste of being a Head Coach there.

BTW- I read some speculation that LaVall Jordan will be the Michigan HC once Beilein hangs it up.
