FORUM POSTING RULES - Read before posting

Forum Rules.

(1) The guiding principle for posting in this forum is moderate yourselves.

(2) Don't write a post that attacks, impugns or denigrates another poster's character. There's an obvious difference between the language of humor and hateful, debased language. Know the difference and post accordingly.

(3) This is a Michigan sports forum. The forum welcomes posts from M's sports rivals. Talking smack, posting sass is what college sports rivalries are all about. Rules (1) and (2) above apply. If you don't want to view the posts of a rival talking smack or sassing, use the ignore feature in User Controls.

(4) This forum is about sharing thoughts, ideas and viewpoints about all sports, any number of subjects and issues, learning stuff from other posters and having fun. There are threads by subject matter within the forum for doing this. Keep the threads on point.

NB: The rules above are not intended to build a case to ban a poster. There are consequences for rule breaking as specified below. That's as far as it should go. Only the most egregious and persistent rule breaking would cause the moderators to consider a ban.

Due Process.

(1) The forum has 6 moderators. Jeff Buchanan, Jon, JD, Hannibal, Oracle, Entropy. None of them want to moderate adult posters who should know better. There may be posts that break the rules.

(2) Posters who, at the sole discretion of a moderator, break a rule will be given a warning post that will site one of the rules listed above as the reason for the deletion.

(3) If the rule breaking behavior continues, a moderator can remove an offending post and any ensuing post that whines about that action. If a moderator removes a post(s) the reason for the removal(s) will be posted with the removal notice that appears in the thread. This should be the end of it. Man up, take responsibility for breaking the rules. The forum moves on. If not, see below.

(4) A poster who has had a warning or a post(s) removed can certify a question by PM to any moderator about that action. Do not complain about the action or attempt to make your case in the forum/threads. Moderators shall do their best to address the question within 72h. At the end of 72h the majority opinion of the moderators responding will be the answer.

(5) Banning a poster for egregious and repeated rule breaking requires a unanimous vote to ban from all 6 moderators. We don't anticipate this will ever happen.

You lost all fucking credibility right out of the gate with me!

There's not a single fancy stat or prognostication that doesn't have 8 - 9 regular season wins with most of them giving a lean to 8. HARBAUGH!!!! may get M to 9 but 10? No way.

To get to 10 wins M has to beat 3 of FLorida, @PSU, @ Wisconsin and osu and not drop a game they should win on paper ...... and ha, ha, that never happens.

So, not going to happen and one of the stupidest things you have ever posted here.

At least your calling the outcome of the osu game correctly. Good call.

To be clear, they only need to go 2-2 in those games, and beating Florida is a mortal lock.

No, Oracle, I'm serious. Maybe I wasn't clear. There are four games that M could go 2-2 as talent points out and get to 10 wins. But I can say with 99% certainty that M will lose a game they shouldn't that will keep them from getting there.

I weep when I go back in history and think about those unexpected losses that Bo or Mo or LLLLLoyd dialed up. Even HARBAUGH!!! has logged 1 holly shit how did that happen loss in his short career (Iowa in 2016). You could actually count 2 more: an almost certain win squandered in the 4th quarter/OT @ osu in '16 and the miracle win by MSU in '15 off a botched punt.

History is not on the side of that not happening.

I would have thought IU might be one until Kevin Wilson was fired. I cannot imagine Debord being competent and running an offense like Wilson did but you never know. The Debord hiring would seem to have diminished the probability of losing that one.

I can see a loss @Maryland. Harbaugh has yet to produce a convincing road win. The Gophers are not chopped liver either. Yeah, there coming to AA but ...... who knows.

Everyone gets up to beat M and it has been too often that M has not been up to the challenge for whatever reasons.

Cmon. The only games up in the air are Florida(75/25), PSU, Wisky and OSU, allof which are 50/50 in my book on Aug23. Now, will the choke one of them away? Maybe.

Indiana isn't the usual Indiana. They gave us one of our toughest wins last year and the Hoosiers should've beaten the Nittany Lions if not for 5 fumbles lost... I see Indiana beating at least 1 of Wisconsin, Michigan, OSU or Penn State and if someone gave me good enough odds I might take them to win 2.

                -

If M wins 2 of Florida, Wisconsin, Penn State, & OSU; JB it's going to be because M is pretty good and LESS likely to lose a game they shouldn't... If M had Wisconsin & Penn State at home but OSU on the road, I might say 10 wins confidently. OSU is a likely loss regardless of venue and Wisconsin & Penn State I see as much more difficult in their stadiums.

                  Florida is 90/10
                  PSU is 50/50
                  tOSUc is 20/80.

                  In my opinion, anyway.

Michigan was originally -14 at Penn State, very safe play. I'm sure line has moved since...

They aren't a mortal lock by a long shot. That's still a 50/50 game unless Macelwain turns out to just be a really bad coach. Which is possible, I suppose.

Mcelwain is a decent coach. He has no QB in an offense that needs a QB, though. Michigan's pass D schemes are complex, advanced. This will force Florida to run, Michigan will load the box. Florida loses big.

We'll be starting two true sophs at corner, neither of whom saw a ton of action last year. I guess that's weakness on weakness.

M's linebackers & safeties need to make the tackle, can't let a 3-7 yd gain go 15+. If M's very young defense can limit the big play, they win easily. I'm just not confident that a defense this young and inexperienced will do that. Too many players making their first significant amount of action, too many players are making their 1st or 2nd start.

Yeah, CBs, maybe safeties are my only major concern with this team. Hill sounds like hes ready at least. Get by Florida and we get a month to figure it out.

As others have pointed out, your math is wrong.

The schedule seems to set up well for Michigan this year, with the more challenging games toward the end of the year after our young team has had some time to work out the kinks.
