Im not sure what an O line coach can do with 4 of the 5 starters hurt and no TEs with any pass blocking skills whatsoever.

And while the WRs can't get open, the TEs and RBs rarely have a chance to be factors because they're so often kept in to max protect so it's easy for the defense to focus on the WRs.

Somehow, someway, plenty of teams turn OL out of position, backups, castoffs, etc... and manage to have effective running games.

Only the Lions manage to fail over and over despite constantly pouring high draft picks and big FA dollars into it.

The problem is the RBs. When you have backs who always go down on first contact, your OLine is going to routinely look like garbage. When you don't have anyone who can make a guy miss and get into the second level, defenses don't ever have to worry about them and can pin their ears back on the pass rush, making the OLine look like shit in pass protection too.

Get a real running back, and the offense improves in every aspect literally overnight. That's how shitty the Lions' platoon is. They are the weakest link, and holding everything else back.
