If you went into the Military in early 80's coming out of Vietnam era chances are more likely you didn't see active combat, unless you went to Iraq in Desert Storm, which was short lived. .....and?

Some people have gone into Service for a pension. The only risk is in the hope that they never go to war....YOUR POINT??

I'm pretty sure Frank intended this thread to be politics-free. And he created a new thread in the politics forum for all this BS. It's not that difficult.

Further political posts in this thread may be moved/deleted.

So......, Deborah......., does this mean there are basically two "piss me off" threads, with no political content in this thread?

Can I speak to the member of parliament for my constituency about this?

Police: Driver on drugs when he killed Michigan bicyclists

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — A man accused of plowing his pickup truck into a group of Michigan bicyclists, killing five, was under the influence of drugs, a prosecutor said Wednesday as he added new charges.

Charles Pickett Jr. was already facing second-degree murder charges in the June 7 crash. The additional charges, driving while intoxicated causing death, are significant because they give a glimpse of what may have led to the tragedy on a two-lane rural road in Kalamazoo County.

Pickett, 50, heard the charges during what was supposed to be a routine hearing about schedules in the case. A not-guilty plea was entered.
Separately, a judge granted a request by defense lawyer Alan Koenig for a mental-health exam. The exam will determine whether Pickett understands the charges and can assist his attorney. It likely will put the case on hold for two months.
Outside court, county prosecutor Jeff Getting declined to describe the drugs that were discovered during toxicology tests by state police, only that they were "controlled substances."

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash. Besides the five deaths, four bicyclists were injured.

How can you enter a non-guilty plea? Is he going to say the drugs make him do it? Give me a break.

                    Could be prescription drugs.

I would think no contest would have been a more accurate plea.

A friend of ours, Mike Greer, was one of the bicyclists hit by this out of control car in Detroit. We met him with the cycling part of the singles group at Ward Church where we met. My wife and I nicknamed him Mike Bike because he always brought along a bunch of tools and extra parts so he could fix bikes on the fly when someone had an issue.
