As has been pointed out already, having an axe to grind or a grudge or a desire to just do mischief doesn't make the evidence you have totally unreliable. It has to be judged on its own merits within the context of bias.

The Nunes memo claimed the FISA judge had no idea that the info being presented came from a biased source. Nunes is already walking that back and now says, yes, there was some notification of a biased source made, but it was insufficient.
Im not saying it does. I just find it rather ironic, tho, that the entire time the left has been accusing Trump of conspiring with Russia to get dirt on Hillary to influence an election, Hillary hired a foreign spy to go to Russia and dig up dirt on Trump to try and influence an election, or as it appears destroy the presidency in the event he won... kinda like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you're 40.

    • Well if every candidate had gone hat in hand to Russian oligarchs and his kid bragged about it later, all oppo research would include hiring people with networks in Moscow. That's fucking obvious. But it's also irrelevant to whine about any legal tactics taken because you don't like the facts uncovered. Facts are facts, allegations are allegations, and all the information has been channeled properly to the relevant authorities, which have handled them legally and responsibly as far as we know.

Legally and responsibly? Like using the dossier, to any extent, to get a FISA warrant, THEN have the former FBI director testify that the dossier was salacious and unverified? How could the info be verified in October 2016 but unverified in June 2017?

Tokyo and Hong Kong markets taking a beating...Dow Futures indicating the market could open another 1,000 points down. Some hope for a rally during the day

But you claimed Steele was working for Bush, either you are misinformed or lying.
Unsure if you are equating an intelligence cable contractor to the alleged quid quo pro with the kremlin.

You would view those things as equitable?

Right now, overseas, we have thousands of intel analysts/operatives from various backgrounds -- not all exclusively American (whatever that means) -- if shit hit the fan on any one in particular... You think you'd have success pegging them as "FOREIGN SPY"

That language is far too convenient and framing for a balanced conversation.

There are a million people like Steele being handled by "research" and "investigative" firms who work both sides of the aisle and shift seamlessly between in pursuit of $$$$$$$$$.

Assigning some sort of nationalistic insidiousness to some rando like Steele in hopes of presenting it as an analogue for the alleged Trump-Russia shit is really, really misleading.

              Just for visual clarity:
              Lobbyist/firm/political/social group ---> Hires:

Anyone one or two or three of thousands of investigative firms (in this case Fusion GPS) ----> contract/subcontract:

Any number of tens of thousands of intel cables/operatives/analysts

Steele, in this case, caught the golden ticket.

Nevermind that Fusion GPS was hired by conservatives prior to Hilary and for nearly eight times as long. I only bring that point up to illustrate how meaningless and untethered all these transactions are. The allegiances don't exist -- there is little to no value in spending time talking about it. It is almost 100% distraction. These firms are MERCS. Whatever is uncovered exists regardless of who wanted/paid to know and who executed what to find out.

EFZ. Trouble is, one party, by default, always shoots the messenger and buries the truth when news is not good. Not to say the left hasn't done the same, but this is standard operating procedure for the right. This mindset is part of what's seriously wrong with Washington.

This is honestly chortling out loud fucking hilarious.

                  #Progs. LOL.

Also, a quick point -- one that I really couldn't imagine having to make -- but the Rule of Law is generally well understood to have a certain meaning. There are some debates within that meaning, but it's pretty clear, at least to those with a basic understanding of western legal systems.

                  • I don't think anyone objects to Fusion being hired by either party for oppo research. The objection is the hiring of a foreign spy to get unverified imformation from Russia to try and influence an election/destroy a presidency.

If y ou are so sure of a quid pro quo with Russia, then Mueller has the goods already. As sure as you sound, Mueller would have no problem uncovering it in his first month in the job. Except now hes trying to make obstruction, guess muh Russia was all bullshit.
