  • Berlin (AFP) - Germany will this week issue a World Cup victory postage stamp, five million of which were printed before the final was even held, officials said Monday.

Not to mention the snappiest uniforms of WWII...Hugo Boss design. When The Prime gets dolled up, often he will wrap his ass in HB threads.

    Hitler & Rommel, happier times.

              • Well, you can't be sick and twisted and expect to take over the world without style. Everything the Germans had have a unified look, from the boots to the guns you can look at any of their stuff and tell immediately its German. Meticulous planning to create the perfect look from uniforms all the way to even knifes (daggers), guns and even their tanks and airplanes.

                  My apologies Hack.

Didn't realize the Thread read "Miscellaneous/OT, excluding WW II Uniforms, in particular, Germany."

                  • In 1924, Hugo Boss started his clothing company in Metzingen, a small town south of Stuttgart, where it is still based. Due to the economic climate of Germany at the time, Boss was forced into bankruptcy. In 1931, he reached an agreement with his creditors, leaving him with six sewing machines to start again.

That same year, he became a member of the National Socialist party and a sponsoring member ("F?rderndes Mitglied") of the Schutzstaffel (SS). With their help, his economic situation improved. He also joined the German Labour Front in 1936, the Reich Air Protection Association in 1939, and the National Socialist People's Welfare in 1941. After joining these organizations, his sales increased from 38,260 Reichsmarks (RM)-$26,993 U.S. dollars-in 1932 to over 3,300,000 RM in 1941. His profits also increased in the same time period from 5,000 RM to 241,000 RM. Though he claimed in a 1934-1935 advertisement that he had been a "supplier for National Socialist uniforms since 1924," it is probable that he did not begin to supply them until 1928 at the earliest. It is certain that he supplied them no later than 1934. This is the year he became an Reichszeugmeisterei-licensed (official) supplier of uniforms to the Sturmabteilung, Schutzstaffel, Hitler Youth, National Socialist Motor Corps, and other party organizations. To meet demand in later years of the war, Boss used an estimated 30 to 40 prisoners of war and 150 forced labourers, from the Baltic States, Belgium, France, Italy, Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the Soviet Union.[2] According to German historian Henning Kober, the company managers were avowed Nazis who were all great admirers of Adolf Hitler. In 1945 Hugo Boss had a photograph in his apartment of himself with Hitler taken at Hitler's Obersalzberg retreat.

                    • Fascinating.

You'd think the Germans would rather hide Boss than celebrate him as a clothing icon.
There is such a thing as redemption. Jim Harbaugh is redeemed at the expense of a fading Ryan Day and OSU. M wins back to back games v. OSU first time since 1999-2000 - John Cooper was fired in 2000!!!

                      • JB, you'd be hard pressed to any clean hands and for most part, I can't blame them. If you didn't assist the war effort, you and your family were doomed.

                        Ferdinand Porsche's Tiger Tanks.
BMW's Luftwaffe engines including the Messerschmitt 262/264 1st Jet Fighter/Bomber that probably would have turned the tide.
Karl Benz & Gottlieb Daimler's German Army trucks including the Fuhrer's own sweet ride.

Hell most of the garages in America would be empty today if these manufacturers endured serious repercussions.

What would be left, Hack and his Pinto or Oracle and his AMC Pacer?

                          • Genuinely interesting. I didn't know! I think for most of us, an interest in war, politics and history isn't really about fashion. OP's got his own ways though, and that's ok by me. Brings something new and different to the table.

LOL. Reminds me of the Jackie Mason joke about the Jewish guy who won't buy a German car. ``The coffee grinder is German and the faucet is German and so is everthing else in the house. But something costs more than $87.50 suddenly its ``You think I'm gonna buy a German car? Those Nazi bastards!!!''
