    • I take no pleasure in seeing an old guy dying. Sadly he was pumped full of misinformation about it being a hoax and beaten by the whole of government response by the ratings machine, DJT.

The Trump admin/campaign bears huge responsibility for their moronic decision to hold an indoor rally and their terrible handling of the whole situation which has made the US look like a basket case.

        Yup.

The lady behind him is swearing war on the Democrats for giving him the disease (that she's proclaimed a hoax). She said she was right there and she didn't get it.

Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

              • This is beyond vile. I don't care where you lie on the political spectrum, this should repulse you.

This spring, a team working under the president’s son-in-law produced a plan for an aggressive, coordinated national COVID-19 response that could have brought the pandemic under control. So why did the White House spike it in favor of a shambolic 50-state response?

Most troubling of all, perhaps, was a sentiment the expert said a member of Kushner’s team expressed: that because the virus had hit blue states hardest, a national plan was unnecessary and would not make sense politically. “The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy,” said the expert.

That logic may have swayed Kushner. “It was very clear that Jared was ultimately the decision maker as to what [plan] was going to come out,” the expert said.

                • To me this is a 2-fold problem.
                  1) Government shouldn't be telling 50 states what to do during this.
                  2) Government should be regulating the easiest method of transmitting this - i.e. the airline industry - which States have no control over.
                  They did #1, they didn't do #2.

                  • A National Pandemic absolutely should get leadership from the national government. That is insane. WTF is he there for? The National government should be setting baselines on how to prevent this. WTF are we paying national taxes for?

The Jaguars are counting on Gardner Minshew II to be their answer this season, but for now, they will have to wait on him to begin his strength and conditioning work.

The team placed Minshew and four others on the COVID-19 list Sunday.

Running back Ryquell Armstead, tight end Charles Jones, receiver Michael Walker and safety Andrew Wingard also went on the reserve list.

It means the players either tested positive for COVID-19 or must quarantine after coming in close contact with someone infected.

Minshew, a sixth-round choice in 2019, went 6-6 as a rookie. He began the season as Nick Foles‘ backup but won the job after Foles was injured.

The Jaguars traded Foles to Chicago this offseason.

Minshew threw for 3,271 yards with 21 touchdowns and six interceptions last season.

Earlier Sunday, the Jaguars announced they activated rookie defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton, second-year tight end Charles Jones and second-year offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor from the team’s COVID-19 list.

An eighth member of the New England Patriots has opted out of playing in 2020.

Field Yates of ESPN reports that tight end Matt LaCosse is the latest addition to the list of Patriots who have decided not ot play amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Tackle Marcus Cannon, linebacker Dont’a Hightower, safety Patrick Chung, running back Brandon Bolden, fullback Danny Vitale, offensive lineman Najee Toran and wide receiver Marqise Lee have made the same call.

LaCosse was set to make a base salary of $1 million in his second season with the Pats. He had 13 catches for 131 yards and a touchdown in 11 games.

The Patriots now have Ryan Izzo, Jake Burt, Rashod Berry, Jakob Johnson and two 2020 third round-picks — Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene — on their tight end depth chart.

                        • C.J. Mosley opts out for 2020

Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley, their premier defensive free-agent acquisition of 2019, has decided not to play in 2020.

Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports that Mosley has opted out of the season. Mosley made his decision due to “family health concerns,” according to Cimini.

Mosley signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the Jets. He appeared in only two games last season, due to a groin injury suffered during a dominant Week One performance against the Bills.

He bumps a $6 million salary from 2020 to 2021. That, in turn, will nudge his 2021 base salary of $16 million to 2022.

Earlier this year, Mosley received a $10 million roster bonus. He made $8.5 million in 2019.

Mosley’s decision comes a week after the Jets traded safety Jamal Adams to the Seahawks.

                          • Another team outbreak in the MLB. 12 St Louis Cardinals. If the NFL can't see the writing on the wall now, in a full contact sport with bigger rosters then they aren't as smart as I thought they were.

They should've had a bubble as a plan B in the agreement with the player's union. Player's might not like a bubble, but they won't like a cancelled season and a loss of salary either. They'd also have their safety profile increased from 100+ people regularly interacting with the community in places where the virus is rampant.
