  • “The Department of Justice has completed its review of the 29 FISA applications that were the subject of preliminary findings by the DOJ Inspector General (OIG) in March 2020.  We are pleased that our review of these applications concluded that all contained sufficient basis for probable cause and uncovered only two material errors, neither of which invalidated the authorizations granted by the FISA Court.   These findings, together with the more than 40 corrective actions undertaken by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Division, should instill confidence in the FBI’s use of FISA authorities.  We would like to express our appreciation to the OIG for their focus on the Department’s use of its national security authority.  We remain committed to improving the FISA process to ensure that we use these tools consistent with the law and our obligations to the FISA Court.  The ability to surveil and to investigate using FISA authorities remains critical to confronting current national security threats, including election interference, Chinese espionage and terrorism.”

    • Jonathan Swan interview with Trump might be even worse than the Chris Wallace one. It’s almost like scripted satire.

Holy shit. It is like talking to a demented old man. What a fucking clown.

I can't figure out how to embed it, but here a link to a portion of the interview. Jesus.

        • Jesus, the man is an intellectual wasteland. "Testing not good, make more cases. No testing, no cases. Look, pieces of papers say so. Papers not wrong, lickspittles say. Must be true, I say so."

Biden should just play that interview as a campaign meme. The GOP should make every elected member watch it (Clockwork Orange style) as a reminder to the damage this nation sustains when it nominates/elects a complete and unadulterated piece of shit. I think a nationally televised apology to the American people, by the Repubs for inflicting Trump and his toadies, would go a long way to save the downstream GOP candidates.

Trump: I don't know. I don't know. He didn't come to my inauguration.

                • Yeah. It's pretty awful.

I think if the Ds issued a national apology for nominating Joe Biden it'd go a long way to smoothing things over with the Rs. LOL.

                  • The last thing Joe Biden needs to do is a live debate with Trump. Why risk it. Just keep running his TV ad campaigns, they are well designed. We're just over three months until the general elections. Trump isn't going to recover ...... every time he appears before the camera, he weakens his standing.

I think it was DSL that said he had 30% of the voters who remained supportive of his reelection. I can't imagine anyone but the completely blind that would argue to give this man another 4y. And then there is this .......

Trump supporters and the rest of the US electorate can look forward to the Manhattan DA getting Trump's taxes and then filing criminal charges against him for widespread criminal conduct within the Trump organization. I suppose actual charges won't happen until he's a US citizen although I believe SCOTUS ruled in July that he is not immune to a grand jury investigation. Congress would have to act to impeach while he's still president - that would be a waste of time.

Trump's attorneys filed on Monday citing presidential harassment; the DA responded with his own filing saying, hey, the Supremes already told you, your'e not immune. Nothing more to see. The results of a soon to happen grand jury investigation demonstrative of criminal conduct before and while in office should just about shut up any support he may have remaining. Biden just needs to coast and unlike HRC, who also decided to coast then lost, the circumstances are totally different. Sleepy Joe can win this in a landslide by just laying low.

                      • It would take something unthinkable for Biden to lose now. If limits his exposure that's more than enough. Hell, he could probably talk all day and it wouldn't matter because the Media is SOOOOOOOO invested in his election. I mean, Tara Reade? (lol); "black people who vote for the Rs aren't really black" (lol).

He has an infinite number of free passes from here to November.

Well, the D alternatives are way more problematic so, there is that. But, yeah, politically the US is a shit show.

Frankly, the EU isn't much better off, in fact, for me, they are way less better off and that is mostly due to the strong socialist bent - and all the shit that goes with that - that permeates the EU leadership's thinking.

Anyway ..... tough times. My retirement is looking less and less fun as time goes on. A 1%'ers problem but still. Hard not to personalize the long term impact on me, my kids and their kids of the world's crises.

                          • He can still win if he can hang unpopular Leftist extremist movements around Biden's neck, but the time for that is running out.

                            • The dem plan is to blame Trump for Covid-19 and the riots. Not a whole lot of legitimacy to either charge, but it will probably stick with the general public.

Perhaps covid will give us (semi) substantial debates. If both candidates are remotely broadcasting, the moderators can shut the mic off the person NOT speaking - and no split screen. You see and hear only the speaker. No over talking, no interruptions, no soundbite hissy fits. Force the candidates to make their case in a glaring spotlight without the crap that has become the recent norm in political debates. Could potentially be the only good thing to come out of covid.
