  • I know Progressives like to portrary the United States as the real live Handsmaid Tale because, you know, the US is evil. Whatever.

But, here's a real story about a real oppressive regime and real feminist taking real risks: https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/...ical-prisoner/

At some point I think we're going to recognize that Islamic-government countries treat women like shit to varying degrees (and gay folks), but I reckon we'll mostly just focus on what a terrible country the US is.

Well, islamic countries may be on to something when it comes to women drivers, ... but I digress.

But America is bad. Very bad.

No need to wait to see that outcome. We already know how this movie ends.

If the Rs follow froot's advice, they will lose, and then froot will just insist that they didn't follow his advice hard enough. That scenario already played out in 2008. After McCain got assraped, Democrats and the media univerally insisted that he lost because he did not Cuck hard enough and do enough to distance himself from all of the "racism" in his party. To this day, they all still insist that's what happened.

And they will do that literally every time.

The winning strategy for the Republicans is to do what terrifies the Left, and you can tell what terrifies the Left by who and what they want to censor. The Left is not out there censoring the milquetoast RINOs who are professional apologizers. They are out there censoring Trump, Vincent James, Nick Fuentes, Michele Malkin, Milo, Alex Jones, Laura Loomer, and everyone else in that segment of the Right. A right wing populist nationalist movement absolutely terrifies the fuck out of people like froot, and that is why the people who lead those movements have to be silenced at any costs.

Note the huge difference in how the Right approaches kooks like AOC. We don't want her silenced. We want her amplified. Same with Bernie, Ilhan Omar, etc.

        • Trump is a double-edged sword. Yeah, he's energized the base and has gotten people to vote that had never participated before. He also energizes the Dem base and is almost certainly responsible for driving its own turnout up to record numbers.

A lot of R's will stay home if Trump's not on the ballot. But a lot of Dems will stay home too, or in suburban America, would reconsider the R's.

McCain lost and the Republicans got beat up in the congressional elections because the economy collapsed and we were still stuck in a highly unpopular war. I know of no one who claims McCain lost because he didn't denounce racism hard enough.

            • In fact, McCain was actually leading Obama at points in late summer. Palin gave a boost to his campaign (before people figured out she was dipshit). But then the stock market crashed in September and McCain made the worst decision of the race by suspending his campaign and acting like everything could be fixed by him alone rushing back to DC to fix things. Obama had no intention of halting the campaign and the Bush people were all pissed that McCain was acting like he was coming to DC to straighten them all out.

Well, the obvious question is what is the net result. I'm not disputing either of your general statements. But those statements say nothing meaningful. What's the net result? Again, if the Rs jettison PDJT "bigly" then where do the replacement voters come from and are they enough?

                I don't think so.

                • McCain lost because he never confronted Obama on his agenda. He let Obama get away with "Hope and Change". After a decade of shitting repeatedly on his base and constantly throwing them under the bus, he tried to toss them a bone by nominating a completely unvetted VP candidate. Then he ran as the 'Maverick". Absolutely disastrous selection by the Republicans in every imaginable way. Anyone with a lick of common sense could see it coming from a mile away too.

You must have missed the hundreds of OpEd pieces smugly proclaiming Obama's victory to be a referendum on "racism" and the death of the Republican Party as the Party exclusively dedicated to old white men.

I understand political expediency but how do you put forth serious policy options when a substantial portion willingly refuse to accept some fundamental truths? Acknowledge and ignore a delusional wing? How do you return them to the fold without engaging with their fantasies?

The replacements will come in the form of moderate Dems who flee when the party goes full Socialist. At least in theory.

The "Trump Miracle" of 2016 was that he was able to tap into the sentiment that most Americans really do think that this country is still "Good". They aren't blind and they recognize that mistakes get made and things need to get fixed, but being responsible to maintain and improve things is a lot more palatable than the guilt and shame that the far left has been dishing out for the last four years.

Trumps failure isn't that this sentiment has changed, it's that he's shown to be as bad of a character as the ones that he has brought out of the woodwork. The Republicans would be smart to find some more adult leadership to ride that aspect and the Dems would be wise to not let the Squad take over. I'm not too confident in either one of them.

                        • A party without MAGAts and a party without the Squad. Quite a dreamer, aren't you?

The Dems going full socialist has the same likelihood as the GOP going full Nazi. So long as both sides use those terms, we'll never get to where we ought to be.

I disagree. I think its more likely that the Dems will follow their leadership into socialism. AOC and Rashida are the future of the Democratic party. Just ask them.

I can't think of one "maga" that is in favor of rebuilding Auschwitz. In fact, most "magas" were very pleased with Trump's policies toward Israel. Biden would be wise to build on what Trump did. Kamala will destroy it.

I guess you missed the Trump rioter with the "Camp Auschwitz" t-shirt

A man who was photographed wearing a sweatshirt that read “Camp Auschwitz” while inside the Capitol last week was arrested in Newport News, Va., in connection to the riot.
