Heh. The City of Newark was "scammed" into becoming a sister city with the nation of Kailasa. I say "scammed" only because someone lied to city bureaucrats and city bureaucrats are, generally speaking, preposterously inept. So, it was sort of like trading baseball cards with the blind kid.

Back when Bannon was arrested by the Feds it was while he was staying on this dude’s yacht.

The AJC spoke to 5 more members of the Georgia Trump grand jury. I dunno, maybe this all fizzles out to nothing. But I dunno...
No details on who they recommended be indicted. It's new to me that there is a recording of Trump calling the former Speaker of the Georgia state legislature to pressure him to call a special session and simply declare Trump the winner. And the former Speaker (who just died in office last November) basically interrupted Trump and made it clear that wasn't gonna happen, as politely as he could.

As I posted yesterday, the collision that the Russian SU27s had with the US surveillance drone resulting in the downing of a $36m MQ9, isn't going to start a shooting war. The Russians have made it clear "they are not looking for a confrontation" with the US and the US side has responded in kind. Still, the story is getting a lot of press today. That story will close by Friday. The consensus we're getting in the public domain is that the drone is not recoverable but both sides will try.
The Ukrainian General Staff and its counterpart in the Kremlin have both stated that the battle for Bakhmut is "too dynamic to draw conclusions." That Zelenski made a statement yesterday his generals had recommended they continue to defend Bakhmut indicates to me that in a battle of attrition, Ukrainians think they are ahead in that department. In the last 3-4d, I have not seen anything depicting the disposition of forces. One of the sources I follow, issued a detailed map every 24-36h. The last one I saw on Sunday morning showed Ukraine pushing back on the so called northern pincer - the one to the north to join the one to the south to encircle Ukrainian forces remining in Bakhmut. ISW continues to report the Russians, led by Wagner PMC have not completed the turning movement from the north required for encirclement. The southern pincer, led by regular Russian forces, have been pushed back - big loss in the Vuldehar area when they tried to capture that settlement a week ago.
The war goes on with lots of killing for entirely questionable objectives (IMO). Obviously the two deciders - Putin and Zelenski don't agree with me.
Also of note, Zelenski has reached out to Ron Desantis' people requesting a discussion (I suppose via Zoom or the like). The R's, as a matter of party positions on the war, have taken issue with Desantis' statement - the US should not be involved in the "dispute" between Russia and Ukraine - he sees it as mostly a European problem. Apparently that's at odds with the R party's position. My take is that as this thing goes on and approaches it's 3rd year in February '24, Desantis may be voicing a position on the war in Ukraine, if he stays with his current one, that will be reflective of what US voters want.
