        • Sigh... lol Because the basic fact is no matter what you do to a turd - polish it, paint it, give it bling - it's still a turd, and there is nothing you can do about that underlying fact.

Guess you missed the part about how it's the Federal Government, not California, that manages most of the forests in California and neither of the two recent big fires started in forests anyways.

I can imagine your reaction if Obama said he would no longer allow FEMA money to be spent in Mississippi for hurricane relief because he disagreed with the amount of shoreline development the state allowed.

                  • McConnell has been pretty quiet about all this for a few weeks now.

They had a deal done, the WH told McConnell that Trump would sign, it passed unanimously...and then Trump got cold feet because he watched too much TV. Kinda think Cocaine Mitch ain't exactly in the mood to bail Trump out of this?

                    • This particular group of Senators getting together to speak to Graham suggests Republican Moderates are getting restless and annoyed. (Plus Kushner who, reportedly, isn't 100% onboard with the shutdown the govt indefinitely idea)

EDIT: On another note, Justin Amash came out and said that Trump would be exceeding his executive authority if he declares a national emergency. Plenty of other Republicans are probably thinking it, but wont say it out loud.

                            • These articles come via Noah Rothman (Commentary magazine). So you think Democrats have been inconsistent in their support for a Wall? Recall: the Republicans controlled both Houses of Congress for 8 years, including the first two years of Trump's Presidency. Deals to fund the Wall were constantly put out there but nothing ever happened. Blaming Senate Democrats non-enthusiasm is ridiculous; just look at these Republican responses. Guess what? Republicans in Congress suddenly got way, waaaaay more enthusiastic about a Wall once they were out of power. Sort of like how they voted 50+ times to abolish Obamacare then got cold feet once the votes actually mattered.

And many of the sycophants defending Trump the loudest today (*cough* Graham *cough*) were calling the Wall a waste of money just a couple years ago.
