      • Biden's even causing sky high energy prices, a labor shortage, and empty store shelves in Britain! Unbelievable!

Brexit and covid have nothing to do with it! It's Biden!

If Brexit is causing high energy prices, labor shortage, and empty store shelves in Britain, what's the excuse for it happening here?

          It's probably not Brexit then.

You don't think that restricting the number one activity that led to the energy price crash of the mid teens has something to do with it? How else do you get the price skyrocketing without a demand increase? Natural gas prices are pretty localized to within countries and there isn't a lot of substitutability or mobility that makes overseas prices affect American natgas prices,

              • This is what happens when The Chairman panders to environmentalists. As if stopping oil and gas lines here in America brings 'clean air'. The real violators are Russia and China, and they have only paid lip service to 'global warming' for decades.

For the US, it just means higher prices. Democrats with big investments in gas and oil thank you for your patronage.

You don't think E&P companies laying down a huge amount of rigs during most of 2020 due to zero demand and temporarily negative prices has anything to do with it?

And furthermore, at least as of August, the Biden administration was on pace to grant more new oil & gas permits on federal lands than any President since George W. Bush. In spite of whatever's said in public

Legal and political realities seem to have tempered the administration’s ambitions for ending fossil fuel extraction on federal lands.

New permits for companies to extract oil and gas from U.S. public lands are on pace to hit their highest level since George W. Bush was in office, undermining the president's ambitious climate goals.

And you can see lease sales have been continuing all year

                  • Granted, the Biden people had a huge backlog of permits to deal with and the pace has slowed down from the first half of the year. The Trump administration was full of lazy assholes that mainly wanted to be on tv rather than do any work.

LOL. The NPR article itself says that there was a massive number of permit applications during Nov-Dec because the oil and gas companies knew what was coming. Just because the courts blocked Chairman Joe from shitting down all drilling on federal land, doesn't mean Joe intentionally is giving a lot of permits. You should really read your own articles.

And DSL, you mentioned you worked in the O+G business. Is that true? If you do, you can't possibly believe shutting down fossil fuel production is good for the country.

                              • I do NOT believe shutting down the oil & gas industry is good for the country and I am well aware it hasn't happened.

Federal lands account for only about 10% of all nat gas production. Biden's executive order was shot down like everyone knew it would be and they continued granting existing applications in the meantime. Enough to be the most in over a dozen years.

What you said is very true, there was a rush in Trump's final days to approve as much as possible. But even with that, there was still a huge glut he left behind and those are the ones Biden Interior Dept approved through the summer. That's possibly covid-related as well -- no one was in a rush to drill anywhere for most of 2020.

The "lazy asshole" crack was pure provocation on my part but I feel the characterization is quite accurate
