History is not kind on the side of the nuts, the last time the preseason No. 1 finished as the national champion was USC in 2004. Only twice (FSU 1999 and UC 2004) has the preseason No. 1 team stayed No. 1 the entire season and won the national title.

Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown - this will probably way heavily on the chest of Urban again. Bigger they are - harder they fall.

Note - The last time a team had such a prohibitive AP ranking at the start of the year and won the NC was 1975. The Oklahoma Sooners (and they lost at home to Kansas 23-3) during the regular season.

They lost to Kansas and still won a national title after dispatching Bo in a bowl game -- which, obviously, wasn't difficult to do.

But, yes, if I had to bet on one team to win the CFP or the entire Field, I'd bet the Field all day. No brainer. If I had to pick one team to win the CFP playoff, then I'd pick Ohio State.
