    • M wins first of 3 in the CWS, 7-4 v. Vanderbilt. M had 14 hits against the vaunted Vandy pitching staff and can win the NC by beating Vandy tomorrow.
There is such a thing as redemption. Jim Harbaugh is redeemed at the expense of a fading Ryan Day and OSU. M wins back to back games v. OSU first time since 1999-2000 - John Cooper was fired in 2000!!!

                      • Women's Basketball got a really nice pickup in the form of Nebraska transfer Leigha Brown. Brown, a Sophomore, led Nebraska in scoring this past season. The biggest thing Michigan lacked this season (IMO) was depth. They had 11 roster players to begin with and lost one of their starters (Kayla Robbins) to an ACL tear halfway through the B1G season and then had another rotation player (Danielle Rauch) miss several games with a broken hand. They've got a solid recruiting class coming in, including a top-40 player. Plus Akienreh Johnson got a medical-redshirt 5th year.

I'm not sure if Brown will be eligible immediately but it she is, Michigan may have enough to compete with Maryland for the B1G title.

                        • Good news ...... at least for B-Ball. M will be competing with Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa in the West and PSU along with several others besides and not counting osu who will only be eliminated in the East by losses to someone other than M, in any BT CCG.

                          Such is life.

                          • Shout out to the women's basketball team for nearly making the Elite Eight. It was a frustrating end to the game, but they took it to a tough Baylor squad. The only silver lining is that we don't have to see them get their heads chopped off by UConn.

                            • Abby Heiskell's score of 9.9250 on balance beam in the final routine of the day delivered Michigan its first NCAA women's gymnastics championship in program history. The reigning champion Sooners were second by .088.

                              • The softball team took 3 out of 4 from Northwestern this weekend in Ann Arbor. After losing the Friday night opener, Michigan swept the remaining 3 games of the 4 game weekend set winning a double header on Saturday, and finishing with a 2-0 win today. Michigan is now leading the Big Ten 1.5 games over Minnesota, and has a 2 game lead in the loss column. Its important to win the regular season championship this year, because there will be no Big Ten tournament. The NCAA will take the conference champion but others would have to get in with a good record only. The Big Ten may only get one team in this year. Michigan plays a 4 game set next weekend at Penn State, then will have a 4 game showdown at Minneapolis with Minnesota the following weekend.

The Baseball team took it on the chin this weekend, losing a 2 game series with Rutgers. Michigan started the weekend in 1st place in the Big Ten, but with the two losses, they drop into a 2nd place tie with Indiana, and both are looking up at Nebraska which has a 1.5 game lead. Still a lot of baseball to be played yet, so Michigan still has a chance to win the conference title and the automatic NCAA berth. As in softball, there will be no tournament this year.
