      • Court documents: Titus Young caught on videotape stealing from convenience store

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young pleaded not guilty in an Orange County, Calif., court Tuesday to three felony charges and five misdemeanor charges, a spokesperson for the district attorney's office told Yahoo! Sports. He was still being held on a $25,000 bail as of Tuesday evening. Six of the eight charges stemmed from an incident last Friday in which Young allegedly broke into a home in San Clemente and then fought with police as they apprehended him.

However, two felony charges were added as a result of Young allegedly later being caught on video stealing water, candy and cigars from a gas station convenience store in Laguna Hills on May 4, according to the court filings. The Laguna Hills incident was earlier reported by The Detroit News.

All of that comes on top of Young being arrested twice on May 5 in Moreno Valley. The first was for suspicion of driving under the influence. The other was for Young allegedly breaking into a tow yard where his car had been taken. Young has been cited, but has yet to be charged by authorities there.

Young was a second-round pick by the Lions in 2011. He was cut at the end of last season after continued erratic behavior. That included punching teammate Louis Delmas during an offseason practice last year and intentionally lining up in the wrong spot during a game late in the season.

After Young was cut by Detroit, the St. Louis Rams claimed him on waivers. However, the Rams cut him only 10 days later. Team sources have indicated that Young's behavior continued to be erratic.

On Tuesday, Young's father Richard said his son was suffering mental issues which are the aftereffects of a concussion he suffered while playing for Detroit. Young has never been reported to have a concussion in his career and the Lions declined to comment on the situation.

"He had a concussion," Richard Young said. "He got hurt. He got to get fixed."

The elder Young said his son has been in a mental institution this offseason and was planning to undergo further evaluation. In addition, his son has been taking medication for mental disorders, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Former Lion Mike Williams has signed with CFL's Argonauts:

            Williams signs with CFL’s Argonauts
Post by Eric Williams on May 23, 2013 at 5:51

After spending a year out of football, former Seattle Seahawks receiver Mike Williams resurfaced north of the border, signing a deal to play with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

Williams, a former first round selection by Detroit in 2005 draft, made a successful return to the NFL after conditioning and a lack of motivation forced him to sit out two years.

Making Seattle’s roster in his former coach at USC Pete Carroll’s first year with the Seahawks in 2010, Williams surprisingly led Seattle in receptions with 65 catches for 751 yards and two touchdowns.

However, Williams could not stay healthy in 2011, playing in 12 games and finishing with just 18 catches for 236 yards and a touchdown.

The Seahawks ultimately decided to release the USC product before the 2012 season started, allowing Golden Tate to take over as the team’s starting split end.

            • Hmmmmm.

Titus Young just got his bail raised to 50K because he refused to answer multiple questions and was deemed to be a threat to the public.

                • NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — The strange odyssey of former Detroit Lions receiver Titus Young took another odd detour Friday when Young, who has been jailed since May 11, learned he would be charged with three new counts, bringing his total to 11.
The three new counts were mentioned Friday at a pretrial hearing in Orange County Superior Court, where Young made an appearance marked by his silence and stoicism. The exact nature of the counts was not available immediately, because they had not been filed yet.
But Young's attorney, Altus W. Hudson II, said they relate to an alleged attempted burglary the night of May 11. Young already faces charges of breaking into a house that night.
Of the eight previous charges, three are felonies. He also faces possible prosecution for a DUI arrest in nearby Riverside County.
Young, released by the Lions after last season, was arrested three times in southern California in a week, culminating in his jailing May 11.

Judge Andre Manssourian said that, considering the new charges, a higher bail was warranted. He increased it from $25,000 to $50,000.
"Mr. Young poses a danger to the community," Manssourian said.
Whatever the bail amount, Young and his family don't seem inclined to get Young, who has been described by his father and others as having mental health issues, released from custody.
Young had fights with football teammates at Boise State and Detroit, and his ex-girlfriend has a temporary restraining order protecting her and their 8-month-old son, Titus Young Jr., from Young.
The ex-girlfriend, Marjani Maldonado, claimed in a court filing that Young "will say things like, 'I understand why O.J. killed his wife.' "
Hudson requested and was granted by the judge the right to have a mental health professional come to the Orange County jail to evaluate Young. That has not been scheduled.
Young's May 28 preliminary hearing was called off. He now faces another pretrial hearing June 4 and a preliminary hearing June 6.
Young, who played two seasons in the NFL, would seem to have the financial ability to raise bail.
"That's between Titus and his family," Hudson said.
And they think it's best that he stay in jail right now?
                  "Uh, huh," the attorney said.
In court Friday, Young, appearing inside a protective cage while wearing inmate orange, was addressed by the judge.
                  "Good morning, sir."
                  No reply.
                  "Can you hear me?"
                  No reply.
                  "Are you Titus Demetrius Young?"
                  No reply.
The judge immediately called the attorneys into a sidebar, which became rather lengthy. During the next 12 minutes, Young stood at attention, his head tilted back, his eyes close most of the time.
At one point during the long, private discussion between the judge and the attorneys, Young's father, Richard Young, called out to him.
                  No reply.
Hudson later said that it is Young's right to remain silent and that is his choice.
Young's father and mother, an aunt, a cousin and a man who identified himself as Young's trainer attended the hearing. After the hearing, the family members declined to comment as they walked out of the courtroom.
                  The aunt carried a Bible.

                  • The bail was raised because of a new discovery that led to 3 additional charges.
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

They need to add to the crime base in Montreal?

You think he is screwed up now, just put him in a city with a couple of million French Canadians and see where that goes.
