  • The question is, Does your QB make plays to win big games?

The goal is to win playoff games................

Excuses, why? You point to one play as the reasons the Lions lost. The fact that Detroit had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win it and Stafford fumbled the fucking ball away - of course that had nothing to do with the loss.......no it had to be a bad call.......just had to be.

And the answer to that question? Yes. Absolutely. You cannot tell me in an era where QBs like Eli Manning and Joe Flacco and Russel Wilson are Super Bowl winners, and others like Kaepernick have played in recent history, that Stafford simply cannot ever.

Now, if the question is, "Can Stafford carry this piece of shit franchise surrounded with piece of shit coaches and pieces of shit for talent to a Super Bowl?" then the answer is probably no. The Lions have to get better as a team, and at pretty much every level.

          • His game killing turnovers in playoffs and many other tight games to date (against winning teams), indicates NO.

Dude, 3-49. He's demonstrated no ability make plays to beat winning teams. Eli Manning has won Super MVP twice, why? BECAUSE HE MADE PLAYS TO WIN BIG GAMES.

Why? Because he's had largely complete teams with talented players at every level.

I know you REALLY REALLY REALLY want the NFL to boil down to QBs playing one-on-one, but it's simply not true in any way. Stop trying to advance that shit take. It has no basis in reality.

Now you're just making shit up.....stop it.

Manning won the 2011 SB with the 25th ranked defense, and the 2007 SB with the 17th ranked defense. They won the 2011 SB because starting on thier own 12 yard line, he completed passes for 38, 16 and 14 yards.........he didn't fumble the ball away. His running back was Amhad Bradshaw (9 years in the NFL, 4900 yards, 650 in 2011), his fullback Henry Hynoski, (4 years, 193 yards 1 TD), Primary receiver ( seven years 5000 yards), 2nd receiver was Victor Cruz. Yeah, a complete team.

Dude, if your QB can't make plays to win big games for you...........

                    • The Giants were 22-1 in those two SB seasons when their defense held the opposition to 20 or less. Just sayin......

                      • That has to include the playoffs, they only won 19 games those two seasons.

Detroit was 6-3 last year when the defense held the opposition to 20 or less.

                        • The Franchise QBs: Final all-time rankings for all 32 teams

Detroit Lions: Is it possible the greatest signal-caller in the Lions' 87-year history is the one currently under center? Final rankings
                          NFL Nation ranking:

                          1. Matthew Stafford

                          2. Bobby Layne

                          3. Greg Landry

                          4. Scott Mitchell

                          5. Gary Danielson

Matthew Stafford and Bobby Layne - are strong quarterbacks. The rest? Meh. Statistically, both Greg Landry and Gary Danielson make sense, yet both were under-.500 in their careers as Lions starting quarterbacks. Bill Munson was barely more than .500 (24-21-3) and the biggest question on this list. A case could be made for Scott Mitchell, the leading passer in two playoff seasons for Detroit - as many as Landry, Munson and Danielson combined. Mitchell is third in Lions history in passing yards (12,647) and fourth in touchdown passes (79). All this really shows, though, is how poor quarterbacking in Detroit has been for years. -- Michael Rothstein

                          Fan ranking:
                          1. Matthew Stafford...
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

You say that and yes its true that within the Franchise, Stafford doesn't have a whole lot of competition. But also keep in mind that the guy he beat out for the top spot is a Hall of Fame QB.

                              • I would still rank Layne ahead of Stafford personally. Layne has the rings.
