What financial disclosures are you talking about and can you link to them? Also, who are the top officers of the Trump Organization other than his family members?

    • What rabbit hole are we down now? Whether Trump was a successful businessman breeder of border guarding pit bulls?

      • 1. Hawaii is definitely less important than real America like Alabama. I'm sure Talent will quote that for truth.

        2. Not only is Geezer gullible, he is super impressed with himself.

              • Federal judges don't set the immigration policy. They just don't let a policy based on discrimination to be set. Thought that was pretty obvious.
Heh. Immigration policy is, by definition, discriminatory unless you live in a world where borders are meaningless.

                  • I think the idea that goverment can be better run by a businessman needs further skepticism. In commerce, the goal is profits. In government the goal is to govern well. The latter is harder to define and to accomplish. The task of turning some money into more money is simpler to do and to measure. Being CEO or entrepreneur prepares you for only a fraction of what's needed.

                    • I could give a list of all the CEOs that were heads of the companies that I've worked for and I can't think of one that ended in success. Most of them were disasters that had their tenures end with huge golden parachutes. Most of them also had this cult of personality surrounding them.

Correct. I'd point to the Harvard Business Journal link re "cognitive diversity." It's not that having business folks in government is bad -- it's probably good -- but you can't only have those types of people running things. You need lots of other viewpoints and ways of thinking.

As for CEOs, IMO their real value is with much smaller companies. Running GM, I'm sure, is difficult, but you're now steering the Queen Mary. Your options are relatively limited as far as company path goes. Running a 5-person start-up, though, is tremendously difficult. It involves understanding the technology; picking out the proper commercialization path; "politicking" with investors; working with the State. It's a hugely difficult job and a talented CEO can make a world of difference in that regard.

Anywho, back to the minutia of the daily politics grind.

                        • So, back to the real world of pit bulls and casino trips.

A friend of mine went with me to the casino. I met him in his suite with plans to hit the tables. He was finishing getting ready, so I decided to help myself to some of his bourbon, but all of his glassware had been used. I was rinsing out a rocks glass when I heard a knock at the door. It was housekeeping. I let her in, went back to the bar area to pour my bourbon, when I noticed there was some water left in the glass from where I rinsed it out. So, I turned to say something to the maid as I attempted to sling the water out, but the wet glass slipped out of my hand on the downstroke and shattered forcefully and loudly on the marble floor. I couldn't help to let out a belly laugh at my clumsiness.

The maid was very startled. Scared, even. She looked at me with fear and shouted, "I will come back!" and ran out of the room. She even left her cart. I'm sure from her point of view I looked like a maniacal maid-killer on the loose. It was embarrassing.

The upside is I am now the proud owner of 142 tiny shampoos.

Politics will still be here on Monday. Trump's just going to golf all weekend anyway.

                              • It almost became inevitable toward the end of the 3rd quarter. Then it was just a matter of watching a slow motion plane crash. Your decades long support of K-State surely prepared you for such a debacle, but still. It made me feel so warm inside thinking of your frustration that I started writing out a check to you. Then I remembered my first principles: "Fuck over AA at every turn, and if not him, Crashcourse." So I stopped.
