Doesn’t mean he can’t do his job, necessarily, but if it persists he would need to find some alternative methods of communicating in committees.
I mean, if being unable to speak coherently is proof that they shouldn't serve then we need a new VP, too.

But, yeah -- Mike is right on Fetterman. He's an invalid. He still knows what color the sky is, so he's better off than Feinstein.

It's sort of funny that the Ds and The Media have managed to dance around Feinstein's situation for roughly 3 years. She should have been forced out LONG ago. This isn't some sort of new development. But, politics being what they are, a #MeToo Senators being what they are, fat chance of that ever happening. And now they need her to vote on judges. Heh. Fitting.

        • In Ukraine news today, Zelenski is making the rounds going to Jedda to woo the Arabs (didn't work out - they say they are neutral) and then to Hiroshima to join the G7 meeting there. Our globe trotting president has visited multiple sites as well, to end up in Japan at the meeting there of the G7. Here, western leaders unleashed a raft of new sanctions on Russia. The biggest announcement though was that Biden has green lighted the training of Ukrainian pilots in the F16. It's a complex process with the US having the say so on training and ultimately delivering jets to Ukraine ...... we're looking at months, many of them. This will add no immediate functional benefit to Ukraine's armed forces that can be turned into tactical advantage on the battlefield. Providing logistical support and maintenance capability in Ukraine is also a very complex process.

Long term, the F16 carries 2 weapons that can be used from stand-off ranges recognizing Russian air defense systems are decent against aircraft flying in a close air support role in the target area. One of them is the Maverick equipped with laser guidance allowing a soldier on the ground to lase a target to guide the Maverick to it from stand-off ranges (outside the range of SAMs). The other is an anti-ship missile that can also be used in a standoff air to ground role.

One news outlet I follow published a piece offering 4 scenarios for Ukraine's counter-offensive. One of them supposes it has already started with the Ukrainians appearing to succeed at encircling Russian forces in Bakhmut - something the Russians attempted to do to Ukraine's units defending Bakhmut and failed. A lot of the Russian failure has to do with the distracting infighting going on between Wagner PMC and the Russian MoD. That is reflective of the terrible Command and Control function of the Russian army, essential for successful combined arms warfare and coordination between tactical units in the fight ..... it's non-existent according to analysts. If Russian forces retreat from current positions in Bakhmut (this is already rumored to be happening) it could become a through point from which Ukraine's forces can attack eastward, toward the Azov Sea and Mariupol.
