For those who didn’t see the game. Western Michigan down 10 with 48 seconds left, scores, misses the PAT. They are now down 4 with 31 seconds on the clock. They on-side kick and recover. Get a nice pass to about 11 with 21 seconds left. No timeouts. Set up to spike, but Toledo doesn’t cover a WR because they totally bit on the “Spike”. Western Michigan plays backyard pitch and catch to the uncovered WR for the win. In defense of the Toledo HC's statement, it did appear that some of the Toledo players relaxed when they heard the RFP, and some may have thought that the zebras were killing the play on the spike, which never happened. The Bronco QB faked a spike, then threw to a wide-open WR for the winning score. Good quick thinking on the Broncos part.
The zebras did mess up a spot call on 4th down about 1:30 before all that, which allowed Toledo to take the 10 point lead. In spite of video review showing the ball was short of the line to gain, the R covered for his HL pal, and said the play stood as called."What you're doing, speaks so loudly, that I can't hear what you are saying"Comment
