        The Cornbowl?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. JH chased Saban from Alabama and caused Day, at the point of the OSU AD's gun, to make major changes to his staff just to beat Michigan. Love it. It's Moore!!!! time

reports out of Madison tonight say the Nebraska/Wisconsin game in Madison will be a night game.

I guess my hopes for an OSU night game in lincoln the following week have been dashed.

one person's guess on Neb's TV schedule next year. I hope he's right:

My guess as to NU TV next year.

                    NU v Tenn Chat--6pm, Big 10 Network
Fresno State at NU--ESPN 230 or 645 pm
Washington at NU--ABC regional at 230 pm
NU at Wyoming -- 630 pm Versus
NU at Wisconsin -- ABC national at 7pm
Ohio St at NU--ABC or ESPN national at 7pm or 645 pm
NU at Minn Big 10 network 11 am
Michigan St at NU--ABC TV regional 230 pm or ESPN 11 am
Northwestern at Nebraska---ESPN 11 am or Big 10 Net at 11 am
Nebraska at Penn State -- ABC TV 7pm or ESPN 645 pm
Nebraska at Michigan -- ABC regional 11 am or 230 pm
Iowa at Nebraska -- ABC national TV 230 pm

The Big Ten/ESPN will release a slate of early games within 2 to 3 weeks. I originally posted this 2 to 3 months ago, but will repost it in case anyone missed it the first go around, and since we may get a few more kickoff times soon. So far the only confirmed slot is the Wyoming game on Versus that falls under the MWC contract.

Strikeouts represent away games. Away games in CFB fall under the contract of the home school's conference and thus don't "count" so to speak.
                      Thursday, September 1
                      1. UNLV at Wisconsin
                      Saturday, September 3
                      1. Northwestern at Boston College
                      2. Minnesota at USC
                      3. Western Michigan at Michigan
                      4. Middle Tennessee at Purdue
                      5. Arkansas State at Illinois
                      6. Indiana at Ball State
                      7. Akron at Ohio State
                      8. Youngstown State at Michigan State
                      9. UT Chattanooga at Nebraska
                      10. Tennessee Tech at Iowa
                      11. Indiana State at Penn State
Conclusion: UT Chatt. ends up on the BTN as a Nebraska welcome to the BTN network game. The two Big Ten schools who actually play a BCS opponent both play them on the road, meaning the games aren’t covered by the Big Ten contract.

                      Saturday, September 10
                      1. Alabama at Penn State
                      2. Notre Dame at Michigan
                      3. Oregon State at Wisconsin
                      4. Iowa at Iowa State
                      5. Fresno State at Nebraska
                      6. Virginia at Indiana
                      7. Toledo at Ohio State
                      8. Purdue at Rice
                      9. Florida Atlantic at Michigan State
                      10. New Mexico State at Minnesota
                      11. Eastern Illinois at Northwestern
                      12. South Dakota State at Illinois
Conclusion: Based off of the other games again likely a Big Ten game. Alabama at Penn State/Notre Dame at Michigan set themselves up for a 2:30/7:00 ABC combination in some form and Oregon State at Wisconsin seems like a prime candidate for a 11:00 ESPN kickoff. Sometimes the ESPN likes to show a dual 11:00 window for the Big Ten with games on both ESPN/ESPN2. If they choose to do that this weekend, Nebraska is a prime candidate. If not another BTN game.

                      Saturday, September 17
                      1. Ohio State at Miami
                      2. Michigan State at Notre Dame
                      3. Pitt at Iowa
                      4. Washington at Nebraska
                      5. Arizona State at Illinois
                      6. Northern Illinois vs. Wisconsin (in Chicago)
                      7. Northwestern at Army
                      8. Miami University at Minnesota
                      9. Penn State at Temple
                      10. Eastern Michigan at Michigan
                      11. South Carolina State at Indiana
                      12. SE Missouri State at Purdue
Conclusion: Scout had Pitt vs. Iowa higher than NU/Washington, I’d ague flip those two around. The top two games aren’t Big Ten games as far as contracts are concerned. This is a prime candidate for 2:30 regional on ABC or an 11:00 ESPN kickoff.

                      Saturday, September 24
                      1. Colorado at Ohio State
                      2. San Diego State at Michigan
                      3. Western Michigan at Illinois
                      4. Central Michigan at Michigan State
                      5. Nebraska at Wyoming
                      6. Eastern Michigan at Penn State
                      7. North Texas at Indiana
                      8. North Dakota State at Minnesota
                      9. ULM at Iowa
                      10. South Dakota at Wisconsin
Conclusion: We are the only Big Ten road team this week and fall under the MWC contract. The game has been confirmed for Versus with a 6:30 central kickoff.

                      Saturday, October 1
                      1. Nebraska at Wisconsin
                      2. Michigan State at Ohio State
                      3. Notre Dame at Purdue
                      4. Northwestern at Illinois
                      5. Penn State at Indiana
                      6. Minnesota at Michigan
Conclusion: no more strikethroughs. Nebraska likely ends up on ABC in some form here. (Due to article posted above it is looking like at 7:00). It may depend on where teams are ranked assuming NU/Wisc. tOSU and MSU are all undefeated. 2:30/7:00 for those 4 teams in some form.

                      Saturday, October 8
                      1. Ohio State at Nebraska
                      2. Iowa at Penn State
                      3. Michigan at Northwestern
                      4. Minnesota at Purdue
                      5. Illinois at Indiana
Conclusion: Ohio State in Lincoln, First Big Ten game in Lincoln= Full on ESPN lovefest. 7:00 ABC…

                      Saturday, October 15
                      1. Michigan at Michigan State
                      2. Ohio State at Illinois
                      3. Northwestern at Iowa
                      4. Indiana at Wisconsin
                      5. Purdue at Penn State
Conclusion: bye week- around time of initial BCS ranking. If undefeated will be ranked damn high.

                      Saturday, October 22
                      1. Wisconsin at Michigan State
                      2. Penn State at Northwestern
                      3. Nebraska at Minnesota
                      4. Illinois at Purdue
                      5. Indiana at Iowa
Conclusion: Mid/late October is where it starts to get difficult to predict games as a lot of the selection process will depend on who has won and who hasn’t up until this point. Likely a BTN game with the possibility of an 11:00 ESPN/2 slot.

                      Saturday, October 29
                      1. Wisconsin at Ohio State
                      2. Michigan State at Nebraska
                      3. Illinois at Penn State
                      4. Purdue at Michigan
                      5. Iowa at Minnesota
                      6. Northwestern at Indiana
Conclusion: Again depends who has done what. ABC 2:30 or ESPN 11:00.

                      Saturday, November 5
                      1. Michigan at Iowa
                      2. Northwestern at Nebraska
                      3. Purdue at Wisconsin
                      4. Minnesota at Michigan State
                      5. Indiana at Ohio State
Conclusion: Same as the 29th. Although with Iowa and Michigan, the potential is a bit higher than Nebraska passes them this week depending on how things play out. 2:30 ABC or ESPN likely.

                      Saturday, November 12
                      1. Nebraska at Penn State
                      2. Michigan State at Iowa
                      3. Michigan at Illinois
                      4. Ohio State at Purdue
                      5. Wisconsin at Minnesota
                      6. Rice at Northwestern
Conclusion: Unless one or both teams has screwed the pooch completely by this time; this game has ABC written all over it. Likely ABC 2:30 game due to the November night rule.

                      Saturday, November 19
                      1. Nebraska at Michigan
                      2. Penn State at Ohio State
                      3. Wisconsin at Illinois
                      4. Iowa at Purdue
                      5. Minnesota at Northwestern
                      6. Indiana at Michigan State
Conclusion: One and two on this list may be interchangeable depending on how the season has played out. At best it is likely a regional 2:30 ABC game, possibly and ESPN game due to Nov night game rule.

                      Friday, November 26
                      1. Iowa at Nebraska
Conclusion: in all likelihood a near lock for 2:30 ABC.
                      Saturday, November 26
                      1. Ohio State at Michigan
                      2. Penn State at Wisconsin
                      3. Michigan State at Northwestern
                      4. Illinois at Minnesota
                      5. Purdue at Indiana
Conclusion: tOSU @ Michigan will get its traditional window at 11:00 central.

Note One thing I didn't want to try and account for was the fact that ABC/ESPN/2 will do everything they can to get every team on one of their networks twice. This could potentially throw off a couple of the weeks above. Think especially Indiana and Purdue, the two teams we don't play needed to get selected twice. There is the potential to get bumped down in the selecting order when this occurs. I don't think it will be a huge issue as most of Nebraska's "strong" games on the schedule are very strong, but it is something to remember in case we do get bumped down to the Big Ten Network on a couple of games you might not expect us to. And over the long run, it will benefit Nebraska as much as it "hurts" us. Games against a Purdue or an Indiana or a Minnesota in the future may get bumped up to an ESPN to satisfy the quota for the other school while leveraging the television strength of Nebraska.

Big Ten to push back start times?

                              Posted on: April 25, 2011 11:50 pm

                              Posted by Tom Fornelli

For as long as this college football fan can remember, the Big Ten has started its Saturdays in the fall at noon eastern. As a kid growing up in Chicago, this was a pretty sweet deal. I could sleep in a bit on Saturday mornings and when I woke up --BAM! -- college football. Honestly, that habit hasn't really changed much as I've grown older, but it sounds like I may have to watch the ACC and Big East for an hour before the Big Ten games begin. That's because, according to a report in the Quad City Times, Jim Delany is trying to make it so that the noon eastern start times are a thing of the past. Instead, he wants to push the start of Big Ten games back an hour.
Note: The times in the text quoted from the report are in central standard time.
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany reportedly is lobbying hard in negotiations with the television networks to do away with them. If Delany has his way, all Big Ten games next season will start at either noon, 3:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. Many fans objected to the 11 a.m. starts because they cut down on pregame tailgating time and made it difficult for fans who lived several hours away to get to games on time.
Won't somebody please think of the early morning drinkers!?
Seriously, though, it is pretty cool to think that Delany is actually listening to the fans who have been complaining about the lack of proper tailgating time. An extra hour of fun before kickoff doesn't hurt anybody except for those in charge of cleaning up afterward. The question is, just because Delany and the Big Ten want it, will the television networks?
While I'm sure Delany wouldn't have much trouble convincing the Big Ten Network to push back start times, it may not be as easy to do so with ESPN/ABC. ESPN has had games beginning a noon, 3:30pm and 8:00pm for some time now, and I'm not so sure they'll be willing to move everything around just to please the Big Ten. And let's be honest, it's the networks that televise the games who will be the ones deciding when those games start, not the fans attending them.

                              • Not a great idea, if you ask me, unless they get everyone across the country to do it. The Big Ten doesn't want the fourth quarter of its first game of the day competing with the 1st quarter of the 3:30 games that are on all across the country.
