  • Trump has a better chance of stealing New Hampshire than Michigan.

The FBI news may have come too late to put him over the top in Florida or Nevada but we'll see. Everything I've read from on-the-ground reports in those two states suggests the Dems are doing well in early voting.

    • If a BLM protester had killed some cops, I'm sure Fox would lead off every hour of news coverage with it.
True. And, btw, I appreciate that you go to BLM protestor as a counterpoint to nazi nationalist asswipe.

Here's an election update. The electoral map has not changed as much as the national polls have though a lot of states have smaller margins than before
Correct. And she'll have to dip below a 4% margin, IMO, to bring the EC into play. If she wins the popular vote by 3-4% then it's still a remarkable longshot.

That said, Silver had a good comment -- QUIT WASTING YOUR TIME IN ARIZONA! She has to hammer her "firewall" states. Every appearance should be in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, NH or Florida. I'd accept Colorado, too.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

      • The Clinton campaign reminds me a really good football team so concerned with getting a blowout that they stumble into a close game.

        • Hack, I read that article when I got my print edition. The first part is just a polemic against the first amendment, but when they get to talking about Rush as a "disruptive innovator" they are on to something.

What actually happened was that Reagan, against the wishes of his advisors and the FCC chair he appointed, sought and received the legislative repeal of the Fairness Doctrine, which basically gave the government control over the content on the airwaves. Just like he did with uncapping oil in the first days of his administration, he acted on his beliefs, and Congress agreed. Rush Limbaugh and all the rest could not have made it under the "fairness doctrine". Wikileaks has an interesting take on the FD.

I find it disappointing that the left always finds their opponents to be bigots, racist, or ignorant. I don't know a lot about European law, but I do know that a rigorous debate is good for everyone. As the article says, it's the message and not the medium that matters, and, try as they might, the left could not sustain a radio host doing what Rush does. That's because it is impossible to logically defend most leftist beliefs.

BTW, I watch Varney at 9:00 most days, and did today (FBS). He led with the Iowa shootings. Was anyone else relieved to see that the shooter was white? I was.

                • Right -- a rigorous debate. My definition of that does not include purposeful propaganda meant to deceive and incite. And it's one thing to do it in the US, and a whole other in Western Europe. One can already see the racist undertones in the Greek bailout/German EU domination trend. Brexit, etc. etc. Fanning those flames for profit is disgusting and harmful.

I've wondered why the Germans want to "lie down with dogs" so to speak. Why do you believe it is that way? You think it is for domination or for penance?

Do you figure the Germans began accepting migrants because they feel a guilt from WW II? Their high youth unemployment puts the lie to any demographic reason.

As to Breitbart, I'll postulate that Europeans are used to relatively tight control of the media. That makes it particularly fertile ground for diverse opinion. Saul Alinsky was all about attacking and trying to destroy the messenger, which is what you are doing. I'm to the point where I apologise for posting stuff from Breitbart, even when it contains simple statements of fact. Last year, when Entropy had his operation, there came a question about something having to do with a new cancer treatment. The best summary I found was on Breitbart, and I apologised for using Breitbart.

I understand that you dislike profit. Do you try to make a profit in your writing business? Why is that different than Breitbart? Would you prefer to have information disseminated by only the NYT (whose profit is down 95% this quarter BTW)? Profit is a scorekeeping method. The other option is to have the government choose what you can write, and I doubt you want that.

The Economist says that FOX "... is even allowed to host Presidential debates". Quite a statement to make to Europeans, and clearly showing its leftist bent. Do you figure Chris Wallace did a better job in moderating the third debate than the drooling Anderson Vanderbilt did in the second? Or Lester Dolt in the first?

Why does FOX News have more viewers than the other major cable networks combined? I say it is because they have a more balanced presentation. The Economist calls O'Reiley a conservative. Nonsense. When a guy believes private cars should be banned, I think you can safely say he has a far too high opinion of himself.

No wonder that it is a goal of the left to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine. They get slaughtered in an open debate because their belief system cannot hold up to scrutiny.

                          • They're probably also wasting time in Iowa...it's not very important and seems to be the Obama state she's least likely to win. Unless they have internals that looks very different from the public polls

                              • You can believe it or not, but I was in the process of walking it back and my cursor just froze. Couldn't restart the computer.

Anyway, I don't know what exactly which parts you find objectionable, hack, but probably the part about liberals not willing to actually debate their beliefs. I'm hopeful of converting you because you at least know that socialism has never worked anywhere. You had a great line something on the order of "maybe socialism will finally work this time". You understand that power tends to corrupt.

That said, what other method would you use to distinguish between good reporting and bad reporting if you don't want to use profit? If folks see value in your writing, they will buy it. I buy the Economist.

And why do you think the Germans wanted to open the gates to the migrants? I asked you this once in relation to the large number of young Germans not working. I hear so often that it is a demographic matter, but then why not give the jobs to their own youth.
                                I'd just like an opinion.
