On defense... UNL's front seven is pretty talented. They're aggressive and that could be used against them. LB coverage skills are just ok. I'd run at UNL. So far, teams have struggled running wide. UNL has one good CB and one that needs to be replaced. He was Riley's highest regarded player in his first recruiting class, but it hasn't translated to the field. Great athlete, but he doesn't leverage technique. Have your WR change direction and you'll see #21 spin around in coverage (not always, but enough..). He trails a lot because he doesn't use technique. He still is trying to out athlete everyone. Need a third and long... look #21's way.

The point of the wider splits on the OL is a good one. When Hoke came to M, RR had assembled an OL made up of 280 pound athletic dudes. BT defenses shredded that on the regular. That problem persisted into the Harbaugh regime for reasons that probably had to do with Greg Frey who came aboard in Harbaugh's 2nd year. He was a zone blocking guy and wanted quick feet and, in the end got smallish players who are now playing at heavier weights.
But transitions like M and now Neb have dealt with are a bitch. I don't think fans, in general, realize how long it takes to make the switch from a primarily gap blocking, power offense to a primarily zone blocking spread offense. Very different offensive line skill sets that I think, contrary to what Harbaugh may have thought when he brought Frey in to develop zone blocking players on the OL, are very difficult to go back and forth on.
Certainly, the offensive linemen that matriculate to the NFL have skills in both blocking schemes, so I get it but, M and Neb aren't Alabama in the recruiting game and there is just so many of those sure thing offensive linemen coming out of HS. The one's that are, go to Bama. Maybe better to not try to mix those blocking schemes at the CFB level.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Notice how with Scott Frost we're not talking about how it's going to take five years for his team to be any good.
