      • In truth, urban dwellers are the real salt-of-the-earth, heartbeat of America types. They cram themselves in small spaces for finite rewards because they aren't afraid of things that are ``too urban'' and haven't been coddled into thinking they can sit and wait for jobs to come to them. Without people like that, willing to grind it out under tough circumstances on behalf of the lazy racist fucks who WON'T move to where the jobs are, we'd be well and truly fucked.
Well, maybe we can test your theory. After the Rs pass a bill that requires drug testing for welfare recipients, then would be a bill like the Clinton welfare reform in 1996-7 that required the able-bodied to work.

You are constantly saying folks won't move to where the jobs are, but why should they? They are handsomely paid not to work by the federal government, and particularly by the state governments in those states that are now bitching that they have to pay their share of FIT.

Besides, the answer is to move the jobs to those areas where welfare is not so generous. That is happening, but it is a slow process.

        • Don't worry DA Geezer, with a few more years of your boy Trump you won't even have to use code words like homogeneous neighborhoods and folks on welfare. You'll be able to use the words you really want to use and events like Charlottesville will be commonplace. Then you'll truly be able to say you are winning.

          • Politico writes that the D's need someone bland to beat Trump in 2020. Like Gary Peters....

"If you want a Generic Dem with swing-state bona fides, check out Michigan Sen. Gary Peters. He’s made no waves since coming to the Senate three years ago. Many in Washington probably couldn’t even pick him out of a lineup. But his own dork-dad demeanor (Peters’ signature campaign ad featured his family mocking his frugality) was the secret to becoming the only non-incumbent Democrat to overcome an onslaught of Koch Brothers money and win a Senate race in 2014."

            • Depends on where exactly in Santa Monica, but the 1 br is the easiest call of 2017.
Correct. I used Santa Monica b/c my sister-in-law lives there. Unsustainably, but that's another discussion.

              • Progressive NIMBYism. It's all high and mighty talk when you're telling others what to do. But shit gets real when it's your own real estate, your own schools, your own kids: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/23/n...n-schools.html

Lest anyone think it's just two schools in Brooklyn -- NY State ranked as the most segregated school system in the US (as of 2014): https://www.civilrightsproject.ucla....ation-2014.pdf

It's obviously the hypocrisy -- like the way a Christian is skewered for extramarital affairs -- it's the old "if you're going to be all preachy, you best ALWAYS practice that shit" approach. Progs, of course, have surpassed fuck near all religions with high-minded preachy bullshit. So their NIMBYism is particularly enlightening.

                • Geezer already mentioned AT&T, but to recap:

*Fifth Third will raise its minimum wage to $15 and pay over 13,000 employees a one-time $1000 bonus.

*AT&T will give out the $1000 bonus to 200,000 employees. And plans on $1B of investment into the US.

*Comcast will give out the $1000 bonus to over 100,000 employees and invest $50B over the next 5 years in infrastructure.

*Wells-Fargo will match Fifth-Third's minimum wage bump to $15.

                  • Latest Bundy trial declared a mistrial.

The reasons for the mistrial are scary. Its this sort of gov't BS that feeds the paranoia groups and generally undermines faith in our gov't/legal system.

The judge's rebuke is the latest failure by federal prosecutors who have been unable to secure victories against the Bundys and their supporters.

                        • I don't think the increase to $15 is a one-off. That's permanent -- well, at least until 2020 when the Ds jack the corporate rate back up.

Yeah, but I actually find the stuff about BLM entirely unsurprising. There's no doubt BLM and the Bundys had an openly contentious "relationship." That BLM would do what they did isn't particularly surprising. It's a little surprising the US Atty either (a) didn't know about these documents/info or (b) willfully withheld them.

But, yeah -- when their argument is "Big Brother" you can't be, well, "Big Brother"....
