  • Here is Trump complaining that Jeff Sessions won't run the DOJ the way Trump thinks it ought to be run: to exclusively benefit himself and his political allies

Sessions will be gone after the election and there needs to be significant pressure put on Congress to not rubber stamp a Trump yes-man

EDIT: BTW, only Duncan Hunter's stuff dates back into the Obama years. The investigation of Chris Collins began during Trump's presidency.

    • Jeff will not cower to Trump’s threats and bluster. He will proceed how he sees fit. Sessions is too honorable to be swayed (cue Hack).

His firing is imminent. I doubt he waits until midterms. He will replace him with a Gulliani type.

      • I think he'll wait till after the election then fire him. Even he knows it'll look terrible and hurt the R's if he does it just a few weeks before.

Like I said, there will need to be extreme pressure put on McConnell & Company to let them know a hack like Giuliani is unacceptable.

          • I am against the ridiculous mandatory jingoism stuff, but Kaep didn’t sacrifice anything. He was a shitty QB his last two years but he still wanted a big dollar contract. His lightning rod political stance didn’t help that, but Brady could wear a swastika while he ritually sacrificed puppies and still be on a team. Being good gets contracts regardless. Being shitty means no one will give you big money or put up with some political grandstanding.

It will go a lot better than the liberal boycott of In-and-Out Burger is going
California state Democrats are distancing themselves from the state party’s chief after he called for the boycott of a beloved burger chain after it donated cash to the state’s Republican Party.

Eh, he'll wait until after the midterms. Several Republicans have privately stated that they will hold up any confirmation of a new AG if Trump fires Sessions. With re-election pressure off the table, he'll do it then. Firing Sessions would outrage all but the Trumpanzee goo-gobblers and that very well could cause a 'blue wave'.

America's Shitstain® drew a scolding from Sen. Ben Sasse, a Nebraska Republican who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee. He didn't care for the Orange Menace disparaging the DOJ and Sessions for two criminal Republicans that got caught.

“The United States is not some banana republic with a two-tiered system of justice – one for the majority party and one for the minority party,” Sasse said in a statement. “These two men have been charged with crimes because of evidence, not because of who the President was when the investigations began. Instead of commenting on ongoing investigations and prosecutions, the job of the President of the United States is to defend the Constitution and protect the impartial administration of justice.”

I don't care for Session's politics, but you have to admire his integrity in regards to the Mueller investigation.

                • Anyone listening to the Slate podcast called Slow Burn? Season 1 was ``stuff we think you probably never knew about Watergate", and season 2 is the same for the Clinton impeachment. That approach is not comprehensive, i.e. there's no sense in Season 1 at all of how Woodstein pushed the story, but there's lots of interesting detail. My takeaway thus far is that this system has always been pretty damn partisan. Some of the stuff I heard about Watergate and reaction to it was very similar to what's ongoing now.

Correct. He was shit. But that ought to be enough to get DSL up in a fury. Besmirch Kaep at your own peril!

                          • If you are an average QB, or possibly even better than average, there is a spot for you in the NFL. If that comes with a TON of negative attention, then good luck.

I think it was Baltimore that was working out a deal with him and about to sign him when his girlfriend tweeted out a meme that compared the Ravens owner to a slave master. This is why he doesn't have a job today. He is at least as good as the NFL backup QBs, but the difference with those other average players is they don't bring that negative attention to the organizations. There is leeway when you're a star, Kaep is not that.

                            • He doesn't want a back-up role and he doesn't want back-up dollars. The Seahawks were rumored to have made an attempt to sign him, too. He allegedly wanted many more dollars than they would offer.
