  • You simply can't expect a Republican to get a fair trial in DC.
Correct. Unless it's in front of the Senate.

    • In addition to all the great economic numbers, the US has also managed to REDUCE greenhouse gas emissions by over 2% this past year.

Terrible news for those who hate American Exceptionalism! (and/or those who embrace Venezuelan Exceptionalism).

Now one needs to ask when does Russia and China start doing their part?

oh, wait, we can't ask that ...it might make them angry

          • Dunno if I mentioned this last week. But the DOJ quietly dropped its anti-trust probe of California & the four automakers who have defied Trump and pledged to stick with California's Emissions standards

Big win for the Socialist Republic of California!

            • The 8 Republicans willing to limit Trump's ability to wage war on Iran without Congress' authorization

              Lamar Alexander (TN)
              Bill Cassidy (LA)
              Susan Collins (ME)
              Mike Lee (UT)
              Jerry Moran (KS)
              Lisa Murkowski (AK)
              Rand Paul (KY)
              Todd Young (IN)

It'll pass the House and then get vetoed

              • I agree with it in principle, but that fact that it's limited to Iran makes it unserious. I'm quite happy PDJT had the authority to kill Solemeini.

If you have 8 Republicans willing to cross over and the Dems stick together that gives 55 voting for it. Would this need 60+ votes to pass the Senate (never mind that McConnell will never let this reach the floor)?
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

The vote today was final, it passed. You only need a simple majority, not 60 votes, for legislation. They WOULD need 67 votes to override the upcoming veto.

                    • Lot of stuff going on today....federal court grants Amazon an injunction. Pentagon ordered to temporarily halt all work on the JEDI contract it awarded to Microsoft.

Dunno how far this will end up going but Amazon has said it wants depositions from Esper, Jim Mattis, and Trump -- among others

In many instances, the government would probably work quietly behind the scenes to effectuate certain policy decisions. Sentencing, e.g., would be one of those areas. However, when PDJT weighs in then it instantly becomes political instead of a matter of policy.

That said, I'd think you guys would love PDJT's tweets. He's nakedly transparent in sooooooo many regards. It's spectacularly unprecedented -- the American people literally know almost every thought that's rattling around that tired old melon of his. That's what makes Barr's job so hard. Heh.

                              • Even viewing it in the most cynical light and saying Barr & Trump coordinated the statement, and Trump went along with this plan, over time he's likely to get annoyed hearing pundits talk about how Barr dressed him down in public...no one tells him what to do! And he's heading for Mar-a-Lago today, where the grifters and sycophants converge to whisper bad advice and gossip in his ear.
